Titan bulks up Chapman Construction fleet

Chapman Construction is riding the boom in mobile communications. “In 1997 we started to build new cell phone sites,” said Calvin Hargrave, president of a company that got its start by building electric power lines throughout Texas. “We diversified to fit the need.” When major cell-phone providers started to expand their service in the greater Texas region, Hargrave realized it was time for his company to expand, too. “Sometimes when something’s offered, you go forward. Mack Pinnacle proves the right truck for the job

Hospice of the Valley recently called on Jerry Buesing and his team at Buesing Corp. of Phoenix, Arizona, to do what they do best — dig. “We were contracted to mass excavate and shore a basement for a new building on a small plot at 16th and Flower, near the downtown,” said Jim Knapp, vice president of equipment and maintenance. The company’s challenge was to remove the dirt in the most effective, timely and safest manner possible. “There was a very small working area with a steep angle to the street that didn’t give us enough room to put in a ramp,” Knapp said.

Filco is Bulldog Tough on waste hauling

Competition in New York City’s waste-hauling market is tough. Filco Carting is tougher — thanks to experienced staff and durable equipment. Established in 1910 by Cosmo Filiberto, Filco used a horse and wagon to gather trash and recyclables in the garment district of Manhattan. Today the company is a fourth-generation family-owned business and a pioneer in the waste removal and recycling industry. It has grown to 40 trucks, 75 employees and 5,000 accounts in all five boroughs of New York City, plus Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island and parts of New Jersey. When Pat Barber founded Superior Transportation Inc. in 1998 he managed the company from the cab of his brand new Mack® Pinnacle.™ He soon outgrew his office. “I had one Mack truck and drove it myself,” said Barber, president of Superior Transportation. “I then went on a full-service leasing plan with Mack.
